We are dedicated to the preservation of the traditional breed type and characteristics that were created over many generations while embracing the future of this versatile breed in the United States. Our emphasis is on health, type, conformation, movement and disposition. We strive for powerful, sturdy Gypsy Vanners with proper conformation, traditional style, abundant, luxurious hair and feather with outstanding, intelligent, calm, kind dispositions. All of our horses are trained to ride and some drive as well, when they are at the appropriate age. Our Gypsy Vanners are competitive at both local and breed shows.
Our animals are a part of our family. We are not a breeding farm, we are a farm that occasionally breeds. We keep a small, select herd (from both the US and imported from England) which allows us to spend quality time with each of our animals every day. We selectively breed for quality in all facets. Our foals receive lots of love and training as they are nurtured through development. We provide competitive pricing in order to make the dream of having a Gypsy Vanner the reality for the right homes.
Misha is an active member of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society (GVHS), our registry of choice. Misha is a board member for the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society and the New England Gypsy Horse Club.
Some of our GVHS awards: 2017 5th place Year End Amateur Halter Horse award for Sweetie- her first year out. Both Shimmy and Sweetie ranked well in 2017 and 2018 with only attending one GVHS show (the only one within a 14 hour drive from our farm) each year. Sweetie was the 7th ranked horse in Youth and Shimmy was the 4th- both with Alexa Rahman. In 2016 Shimmy was awarded a GVHS Vanner Advantage award.
We are so proud to announce that SUGAR HILL DAYLIGHT DANCIN' BOWIE is the 2019 GYPSY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS GRAND CHAMPION STALLION. This is an amazing feat especially for a yearling!
We look forward to the 2020 show season with Shimmy, Sweetie, Teagan and our newest addition, Pie.
In August of 2018 we took an amazing trip to England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. We were able to visit a few Gypsy farms and learn from the breeders there! When visiting SD Farm we met our newest addition- SD Blueberry Pie. Pie was imported in November of 2018.
We also occasionally breed high quality purebred Nubian Goats.
We are aware of the vast number of horses in need. We have rescued and regularly make donations to several different equine rescues and therapeutic programs. We will make a donation to a non-profit equine rescue for every horse that is born on our farm.
